New Changes

Hello everyone! It’s O dark 30 here in the studio and I’ve just finished up some finger style practice and writing time, so I wanted to end the night with a few words to the new blog.

Some of you may have noticed that the site has changed drastically in just a few short days..this due to an error that occurred in the old WordPress site. We were able to save a number of the files so we can reinstall them, but it seems a lot easier to just start over fresh with a new approach and new look.

My wife and manager Pamela Pfalzbot has written up a real nice informational bio that will give you an idea of where I came from, where I am, and where I’m going. I’ve always looked at my career in music much in the same way a surfer looks at a wave they catch and ride. There’s been highs and lows and there have been near wipeouts. I’m still here riding the wave until the very end.

I currently have well over 70  songs that I am working on that are in various stages of completion. I’ve released tidbits and excerpts for some of these songs which can primarily be found on my YouTube channel and Reverb Nation account.

My writing habits are such that I write songs to get a basic structure and then add parts such as rough guitar or keyboard solos. Writing the structure of a song doesn’t seem to take as long as coming up with a nearly completed song because I tend to try many versions of solos and commit them to memory before I set them aside for awhile, eventually revisiting them for further refinement.

The “one man band” approach to all this is rather time consuming but it does help develop my level of skill and patience even further. It’s not like counting on other band members to get their parts right. I sometimes find myself wishing I could return to that type of situation but realize that it really isn’t as possible now as it was many years ago. So I have no one but myself to blame for not getting something accomplished. And I don’t give up easily on my music or myself.

In the very near future I am going to be starting to add vocals to many of my originals. This is something Pamela has tried to encourage me on for years. Oh I sing crazy little meaningless songs around the house. Always have and always will. As a full fledged band at one time, I actually did sing quite a bit in front of an audience, usually in a backing vocal type capacity. So apparently I do have some vocal capabilities although I’ve been more guitar oriented than a lead vocalist. But it is something I have to do and am getting more confident with Pamela’s infinite coaching.

Well, it will be another fun filled day tomorrow with some more musical experimentation on the agenda. I’m going to sign off and try to get a few hours of shut-eye before the sun rays filter in through the curtains letting me know I’ve pulled yet another all-nighter. Thanks for reading and thanks for listening. Peace and blessings to y’all!

Gary
